It’s likely no other organization can claim a longer history of service to the greater Detroit community than Mt. Elliott Cemetery Association. In fact, since 1841 Mt. Elliott has held a unique position in southeast Michigan—we have been entrusted to help memorialize and celebrate the lives of thousands of our fellow Christians in a place of tranquil beauty. We are steadfast in this commitment, which is increasingly important in a time when so many extended families are spread far and wide.

From the historic importance of Mt. Elliott and Mt. Olivet—cemeteries established in the 19th century—to the modern estate-like settings of Resurrection, All Saints and Guardian Angel, all of the Association’s properties are nationally recognized for the careful stewardship of our families’ most cherished memories. Each is distinctive, with beautifully landscaped grounds.

A Fascinating Look at Our History

Michigan author and genealogist Cecile Wendt Jensen has written two books, Detroit’s Mount Elliott Cemetery and Detroit’s Mount Olivet Cemetery. Published by Arcadia Press, these two books recount a brief history of our two oldest cemeteries and the diverse waves of immigrant communities they served during the 19th and 20th centuries. To purchase a copy of either book, call or visit any of our cemetery offices.
