Ruth Elizabeth (Moore) Curneal, age 91, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2012, in Pradise, California.

She was born on a farm (not in a hospital) in Illinois, and was the first born of twins in family of 6 beautiful daughters.  She spent the majority of her life in Michigan before moving to California.

In 1943, during World War II, Ruth worked for the N.A. Woodworth Factory which built airplane parts.  She took flying lessons in 1943 and soloed from the Detroit City Airport.  In 1945, she married Arlin E. Curneal of Madisonville, KY while working as a Nurse’s Aide.  She later worked for Excello, Burroughs and many other companies, including 10 years wit the City of Detroit from which she retired in 1983.

Ruth enjoyed gardening, reading, writing articles for the “Woodland Post”, and she had a graffiti published in the Detroit News.  Her favorite bird was the Chickadee.  She was quiet, reserved, had a strong will and could be cranky, but if you could get her to laugh it was a joy to behold.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Clyde and Mary Moore; her sisters, Marion, Rita (her twin), and Doris.
