Grandma passed away peacefully in her sleep after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She had a heart of gold and the best sense of humor one could possess. That sense of humor never left and never faded. She was there for her kids and grandchildren through thick and thin. Grandma enjoyed gardening and knew everything about flowers, especially roses. She enjoyed the simple things in life: spending time with family, cleaning, tending to her garden, coffee, making home made pickles, pierogies, and gwumpkies to name a few. Many of the fondest memories I hold in my heart are the times I spent at Grandma’s house. I could listen to her stories over and over; stories of the Great Depression, World War II, my father as a little boy, and most of all the “love story” her and Grandpa shared. It was those stories that made me believe in fairy tales coming true in real life. There are no words that can describe the pain associated with losing my Grandmother but I find peace in knowing that she is in heaven, reunited with Grandpa, Auntie Mary Anne, Uncle Paul, her siblings and her parents. I know she is now watching over me and the rest of the family. If she were here right now she’s probably say “It’s time”. Heaven gained an angel. Rest in Peace, Grandma.
