We lay Mark to Rest after a life that was filled with Joy, Sorrow, Love, Friends and Family.
Grace, Dave and I will have our memories of all the times he asked us, “Could I borrow $20.00 – I’ll pay you back?” We’ll remember his calls where he would say nothing, just play the piano for us. He kept getting better and would share his accomplishments at the keyboard with us. Another memory are his drawings that went from comic strip characters to life like images of his closest friends.
I will miss Mark texting photos of his drawings and my sending him copies of my latest work on comic strip sketches.
I will miss him calling, saying, “Hey Pops.”
I will miss his warm smile and good heart. He always put others first and did not spend enough time taking care of himself.
I will miss the good times we had playing golf at some of the finest PGA courses in the country. His golf swing was a thing of beauty and I strive with every swing to measure up to that.

Our last conversation was on Wednesday before he was released from the hospital. He said to Grace and I; “I told you I was sick!” We laughed about that and talked about the time he worked at the cemetery selling Niches, much like this one. The sales pitch was “Heart Height, isn’t this where you would want to be?” I told him it would be a cold day he would be at heart height! But here we are, nicely located in a climate controlled mausoleum surrounded by mine & Grace’s family here and throughout this cemetery. And although Mark is not at heart height, if you sit on the bench in front of his niche it is the ideal height!

We will miss his smile and especially his great hugs.

We look forward to the day when we will play golf together again….
