Long before on-line and internet in the day of the horse and buggy, young Martha, for whom my grandmother was named, lived her last summer in the city of Detroit (1903) and grew up in a house long gone now that would have stood near Harper Hospital. We know little about her and she rests in a un-marked grave in Mt Olivet,old section C. She had 3 brothers,one of which became my grammas father. He loved her enough to share her name with his daughter. Young Martha got sick in the winter and after 3 days in the hospital she died on her 9th birthday and was put to rest just 3 days before Christmas eve. It may not be possible to exactly locate her grave to have a headstone placed, so for now this will have to do. 112 years after her brief life and with all those who new and loved her long since gone also, we are remembering you still Martha.
